Old Silver Fillings (Amalgams)

Here are 3 reasons to get your OLD silver fillings (amalgams) replaced with composite tooth colored fillings:

1. Amalgams expand and contract with temperature changes. When biting on amalgams in an expansion phase, you are extremely liable to cause cracks within a perfectly good tooth!

2. Because amalgams expand and contract; they leak, and leave areas of the tooth exposed to bacteria that causes large amounts of decay up under the filling.

3. Old amalgams can create specific rust chemicals that some people may be highly allergic to. Replacing amalgams is the first step in restoring your oral health and in the long run, keeping your teeth! note: composite fillings are extremely sensitive to saliva (spit). When you cannot keep spit away from a tooth while placing a composite filling, then amalgams must be used.
